About & founder story

One room in 2014. Two centres today. The standard stayed personal.

Cornerstone began in Kalyan Nagar with one speech-language pathologist and grew because families kept bringing the next family.

One clinician, one room

Vidyasagar is the founder and clinical director of Cornerstone, an RCI registered speech-language pathologist and audiologist with 17 years of clinical experience. He opened the first Cornerstone centre in Kalyan Nagar in 2014, when therapy options for children were difficult to find, and the practice has since grown into a multidisciplinary team across two centres.

His work centres on communication, motor speech, feeding and social interaction. He follows a strengths and needs based approach, using naturalistic, relationship-based methods that respect how each child learns, communicates and experiences the world. Parents are partners in every plan, so progress carries over into home and daily life.

Vidyasagar is Hanen certified in More Than Words and TalkAbility, and is trained in PECS (Levels 1 and 2). He also holds advanced training in PROMPT, SOS and AEIOU feeding approaches, TalkTools, Social Thinking, Sensory Integration, NDT and Play Therapy, gained through several national and international certifications. He has been mentored by Lois Kam Heyman and Caroline Bowen, and is inspired by the work of Carrie Ebert and Pam Marshall.

A graduate-level teacher, he has mentored over 100 clinicians across more than a decade, including his own staff, interns and other professionals, and has trained over 1,000 professionals through workshops, talks and internships. He believes strongly in teamwork over solo practice. At Cornerstone, he works alongside every team member, because the best outcomes for a child come when speech, occupational therapy, behaviour and psychology work together with the family.

02 · Family by family

The practice grew through trust

A mother told her sister. A father told a colleague. Paediatricians sent worried parents. That gradual word of mouth built a multidisciplinary team and a second centre at Dr. Shivarama Karanth Nagar. Most families still arrive because another family or professional told them where to begin, so trust remains something the team has to earn in practice.

03 · The standard now

Say what fits, and say what does not

Today the practice works across two centres, but the useful test remains simple: understand the child in front of you, make the plan around that child, and be direct when another provider would fit better. Fees are published, goals are explained, and a family should know what a service can and cannot offer before deciding. Growth only matters if that clarity survives it.

Who we work with

We work with the whole child, not a single label.

Whether the concern is communication, movement, sensory processing, feeding, behaviour, or daily independence, and whether or not there is a diagnosis, the plan is built around your child’s own profile.

Clinical scope

What we provide, assess, refer, and collaborate on.

A quick, honest map of where Cornerstone begins and where another professional takes the lead.

We provide

Speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, feeding support, Elements (early intervention), and psychology-led behavioural and learning support at Kalyan Nagar.

We assess

Communication, movement and sensory processing, feeding and mealtime skills, behaviour and emotional regulation, and learning. Assessment here is a clinical process, not the same thing as a diagnostic label.

We refer on or collaborate

Where a need falls outside our scope, such as physiotherapy, or where a formal diagnosis is required, we work alongside the relevant professionals rather than providing that service ourselves.

Intervention is not diagnosis

Intervention builds skills; diagnostic assessment names a condition. We will be clear about which one you are being offered, and we do not give a standalone diagnostic label on our own.

Cornerstone’s fuller history and clinical approaches

The fuller history

Cornerstone grew into a multidisciplinary team across Kalyan Nagar and Dr. Shivarama Karanth Nagar. Families have travelled from Mysore and across Karnataka, as well as Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, and Mumbai.

The practice describes its approach as neurodiversity-informed: work begins with the child’s profile and meaningful daily goals. Sessions start at ₹900 and a consultation is ₹1,000. When a needed service is outside Cornerstone’s scope, the team says so and helps the family look elsewhere.

The specialist methods below are training and clinical approaches that therapists may draw from. They are not standalone services to book from a menu.

Specialised training across our team

Our clinicians are trained in some of these approaches. Not every therapist uses every approach, and we match the approach to your child.

  • PROMPTSpeech motor work that helps children shape sounds and words with the mouth and voice.
  • DIR/FloortimeDevelopmental, relationship-based work with a child’s emotional and social growth.
  • Hanen Centre programmesMore Than Words for younger children; TalkAbility for older children and their parents.
  • TalkTools / Oral Placement TherapyOral-motor and feeding work.
  • NDT (neuro-developmental therapy)Movement and postural foundations.
  • Handwriting Without TearsHandwriting.
  • Therapeutic ListeningA sensory-based listening approach used as part of a wider plan.
  • Social ThinkingSocial communication and flexible thinking.
  • AEIOU Feeding ApproachAssessment and support for feeding difficulties.
  • SOS Approach for feedingA sequential, sensory-paced approach to feeding.
